Children and Youth: We offer Sunday School classes for all age levels. Please check the maps around the church for locations.
Below is a listing of all our adult classes. Feel free to join any class in which you feel comfortable. Age, marital status and subjects of study are only mentioned to give a general idea of class personality. You are encouraged to join a class which meets your needs and helps you come closer to God
Young and the Restless: Lots of open discussion. Ages: College & young professionals, married
and single, ages 20s-30s. They meet in the Groom's Room off of the fellowship hall. Gabe Price is the point of contact for this class.
Son Seekers: Bible study and open discussion led by Sam Lee. This
is a growing class who are multi-aged, but primarily in their 40's. They meet
in room 304.
New Life: Adults 50 & up, single and married. Jo Benton, honorary
teacher, and Thomas Helton, primary teacher, directs the discussion using
the Adult Bible Studies Quarterly. Service projects and socials are embraced with
enthusiasm. They meet in the elementary wing, room 308.
Pairs & Spares: Ages 25-50, learning how to apply Biblical teachings
to life situations. They meet in the fellowship hall for meaningful discussions
led by Ellen Scott.
Good News: Bible study is the main focus of this class. They do in-depth
studies, and are currently they are doing "When all else fails....Read the
Instructions" (a study of the Beatitudes and 10 Commandments). Discussion
is led by Marjorie Byrd. Admitted ages are 50-75 and they meet in room 202.
Modern Samaritans: This large, lively class, made up primarily of members in their 60's, enjoy discussing a variety of topics from Bible study to contemporary writings. Discussions are led by Dr. Jim Potter. They meet in room 204.
Barlow Class: This is a very caring, older adult class who invite you to join them. Led by Bob Wright, teacher and Billie Joyce Rigsby, president, they study from the Cokesbury Adult Studies, currently letters from Paul to the early Christians. Lessons are explained in a way that all can understand the author's comments. They meet in room 302.
Lifestyle: A larger class made up of singles and couples primarily between the ages of 50-65, who like socializing monthly and enjoy discussing Bible study. They meet in room 303.
Wesley Friendship: Studying the New Testament with a lecture & discussion format. All are welcome to join this friendly group of senior adults. They meet in room 300.
Discovery: A group of older adults who give generously in many areas of the church. They socialize together, pray for and help one another. The format is primarily lecture with some discussion. Grady Lea teaches. They meet in room 301. All are welcomed -- Please join us.
Adult Bible: Open to all ages, a group of senior adults led by John Martineau, an extremely competent Bible scholar. This is a compassionate, caring, open, uplifting group who enjoy a great deal of discussion using the Holy Bible as their study guide. They meet in room 207.

The Chancel Choir: This group provides the main worship leadership at the 8:30 service each Sunday morning. The repertoire has something to offer every taste in worship music. This choir is also the centerpiece of the two larger musical offerings of the year, Christmas at the Grove, and the Easter Cantata. Rehearsals for the Chancel Choir are Wednesdays from 7:30-8:45 p.m. The choir meets at 8:10 each Sunday morning to robe and warm-up, before heading to the Sanctuary for the greeting and procession.
The Harvest Rhythm Section: This is the ensemble that leads worship at the 11:00 Harvest Contemporary worship service. The band consists of guitars, bass, drums, percussion, keyboards, and vocalists. Other instruments, especially winds, are added as available. All levels of experience are welcome. The HRS rehearses each Tuesday night, 7:00-8:45 p.m., and at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday morning.
Sunday Evening Praise: This band leads the music at the 6:00 p.m. Praise service each Sunday night. The music is acoustic, covering Praise and Worship as well as classic hymns. The Evening Praise band is open to players at any level of experience. They rehearse at 5:00 p.m. each Sunday evening.
The Myrtle Grove and Friends Orchestra: This ensemble is made up of both church members and hired instrumentalists from the community. They perform at the annual Christmas at the Grove program, and the Easter Cantata, as well as other special service opportunities. This group is always looking for members from within the church membership. If you play an orchestral instrument (Brass, Woodwind, String, or Percussion) and are interested, please inform the Director of Music Ministries so that he may help you become involved.
The MG Ringers: This is the main Handbell ensemble at Myrtle Grove UMC. They play regularly for the 8:30 worship service. Ringers of all levels are welcome, but the ability to read music will be very helpful. The MG Ringers rehearse each Wednesday at 4:30pm.
Children's Choirs: There are children's choirs available for all children ages 2 through 5th grade. The youngest children have their music time during Sunday School hours each Sunday morning. Beginning Fall 2007 the older children's groups will meet each Sunday afternoon. Volunteers are always needed to aid the Choir Directors.
Music At The Grove: This is our special music series at MGUMC. Once a month we present a special guest musical offering at our 6:00 p.m. service. Admission to these programs is always free, and we collect a love offering for the performer. Past programs have included Organ Recitals, Celtic bands, Southern Gospel Quartets, Urban Gospel groups, and many other forms of music. The schedule of concerts is September-May, and always available in the church calendar.

United Methodist Men: A group open to all men of the church. The fellowship is Christ centered and spirit led bringing strength to the spiritual life of it's members. The United Methodist Men meet every second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. for dinner, with a program or speaker, in the Fellowship Hall. Activities include an annual Christmas banquet, a pancake breakfast on Easter Sunday, and fish fries to support various causes. Contact person is Chuck Boyd.
United Methodist Women: Is open to all ladies of the church. The regular meeting date is the first Tuesday monthly at 10:00 a.m., the Executive meeting is the last Tuesday monthly at 10:00 a.m. Contact person is Claudia Savage. We have 4 ladies circles to choose from - feel free to visit them all.
Arbeiter Circle: Meets every third Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in members homes. They have Bible studies and do service projects that benefit church or community. Co-Chairpersons: Judy Cannon and Audra Wilson.
Guild Circle: Meets every second Thursday at 6:30 p.m. either at the church or in members homes. The emphasis is crafts and "Frolic on the Green", a fund raiser for the church youth and missions. Chairperson: Collette Martin.
Joy Circle: Meets every third Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in members homes. Their project is serving the Men's Fellowship every month. Chairperson: John-Annie Roberts.
Nadine Circle: Meets every third Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the church. They do many projects, including Red Bird Missions, visiting shut-ins and assisting other local missions. Chairperson: Marcelee Farrell.
Other Women's Fellowship:
Koinonia - Ladies Fellowship: Meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m.. Their focus is Christian fellowship, teaching, being a family of sharing and caring Christians, giving God the praise always, and striving to draw ever closer to Him in love and service. Service projects include helping with church improvements and gift baskets for shut-ins. Contact person is Rebecca Black.
Ladies Prayer and Share Breakfast: First Saturday of every month at 9:00 a.m. Nursery is available if needed. Ask about our annual Ladies Retreat in November. Contact person is Marjorie Byrd.

Adventure Club: During the school year the children's department offers Adventure Club classes on Wednesday evenings at 6:00PM. Three classes are divided according to age levels (Ages 3-5, Kindergarten through 2nd Grade, and 3rd through 5th Grade).
Children's Church: We offer Children's Church Sunday during the 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services for age 4 years to 2nd grade. The children leave after the "Feeding Of The Lambs" during the 8:30 a.m. worship service and after the offering at the 11:00 a.m. worship service. They meet in the chapel before the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Children learn how to worship, follow the Church calendar with stories, fellowship meals and crafts. This is a time for the children to learn how to worship God.
Annual children events include: Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Party, year end Luau, and Vacation Bible School.
Nursery: The nursery is open for all services and available upon request for other church activities. Volunteers are used to help staff the nursery during Sunday Morning Worship Services and the Sunday School hour.
Our Mother's Morning Out program is available for our church family on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Contact person is Amy Lee.
